I think it is safe to say when we saw the trailer for the new Lion King we were all holding back a tear, reminiscing on one of our favourite childhood films. Join me as I regain composure and take your through what we know about the remake versus the Disney film of old (can you believe it was released in 1994?).

The new Lion King trailer mirrors a lot of the original as it goes from shot to shot however with the advancement of technology the cinematography ensures it is a lot prettier and more realistic, but definitely a perfect replica that would have any Lion King fan smiling with pride. This clip shows how Disney recreated the original with almost every move of the 1994 animation, down to Simba’s blink before Rafiki marks his forehead with red dye and the moments the animals in the Pride Lands bow as Mufasa and Rafiki present Simba for the first time.

Directed by Jon Favreau and with an all-star cast, I have a feeling it may just be the best Disney live-action remake to date.

If this wasn’t enough excitement, James Earl Jones, the voice of Mufasa in the original cartoon film, will be reprising his role in the live-action remake and narrated the whole trailer as Mufasa.

Stay tuned not only for the release of the new Lion King (set for mid July) but also our very own itinerary that follows in the footsteps of Simba.
