Suffering from lockdown boredom?
But does it really? Besides from the economy pretty much being decimated and not being able to welcome our fantastic guests to Africa, there has been something special in the opportunity to find stillness for a bit. To have the time to bond with family has been incredibly special. To also have the space to set up some new routines and ways to start off the day has also been welcomed. The one other thing I have done is to start to watch many of our live wildlife webcams across South Africa. Why I have not done this sooner I do not know. It is certainly a much more valuable use of time and far better than checking my cellphone messages at month end which are mostly bank debit orders!
Below I have compiled a list of some of my favourite webcams and live streams. In the space of time it has taken to compile this blog post, I have managed to see Elephant, Nyala, Warthog, Impala (obviously), Waterbuck and a whole host of birds (I will save you from that side of my bush nerdiness!).
Please do let us know if you ever find something absolutely amazing!
SAFARILIVE
Starting with possibly the most unique option first. safariLIVE is a hosted and live safari which is broadcast to you at the link below.
The safaris takes place Monday to Sunday with the sunrise safaris being from 6 – 9am (CAT) and the sunset safaris from 3:30 to 6:30pm.
SAN PARKS LIVE CAMS
South African National Parks, the custodian of our national parks such as Kruger National Park and Table Mountain National Park, have a number of live video and stills cameras. Pour yourself a drink and take a pick up Kruger, Addo or Kgalagadi
View the various webcams here!

If you are still not sold on the concept of watching live webcams, then do yourself a favour and start by watching the highlight reel found on Africams’ home page… Yup, now do we have your attention? With live camera feeds from across South Africa you are guaranteed to never have a dull moment!
