Wellness in the Wilderness.
THE EXPERIENCE.
For anyone who has been to Africa we’re sure it’s easy to imagine why practicing yoga within the South African wilderness would be rather different to other places in the world. The African Spirit is undeniable and abundant everywhere; the beautiful vistas, the music of animal calls and scents of nature create the perfect backdrop for an unforgettable yoga experience. The time of year for our visit has been carefully planned so that the temperature should be moderate and the animal sightings abundant. The trip offers a chance to get in touch with your true self through the practice of yoga in this truly magical place.
Alongside the luxurious set up within the camp which offers options for yoga sessions in a spacious, temperature controlled building, as well as a pretty, covered platform with a stunning view, we will be utilising the landscape and atmosphere as much as possible with some yoga asana sessions in the bush, under the shade of an ancient fig tree and walking and seated meditations within the reserve. There will be chances for reflection and introspection as well as openness and fun and we’re pretty sure it doesn’t get much better than practicing yoga as the sun rises or sets over the backdrop of rural Africa.
From a practical, physical level safaris generally mean sitting still for substantial periods of time in between long drives on incredibly bumpy “roads” in order to get the best possible chance of wildlife sightings. This can leave the people feeling stiff and sore and all the yoga sessions will rebalance and revive them.
Being deep inside the African wilderness and coming up close an personal with the Big 5 and other incredible species can be a deeply moving, exciting and rewarding experience for many people. Enhancing this experience through the teachings of yoga creates a truly immersive opportunity for sheer joy.
